As the owner of Jashley's I think it is important that you understand why I got into this business and why I love it.

Several years ago I went through a divorce. A "friendly" divorce by most measurements but it was still a painful experience. All of a sudden after being someone's wife for almost 20 years, I was single. I had an immediate identity crisis. It was like someone took part of me away. For those of you who have gone through a divorce, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Part of the recovery process was to become a new "me". One of the ways I did it was by re-decorating my bedroom. I no longer had to consider someone else's likes and dislikes. I no longer had to ask myself if the room was too feminine. I only had to consider what I wanted. Well, I hired an interior decorator and went to town. I spent a small fortune. I literally leveled the room and started from scratch. New furniture. Wallpaper. Custom draperies. Custom bedding. It was beautiful with one exception. I absolutely hated the coverlet for my bed. Instead of going with fabric I liked, I went with what the decorator recommended. Mistake. I let someone else influence the end result, which was what I was trying to avoid.

I learned that I have wonderful taste and I should count on it. I didn't need an interior decorator. I needed the means in which to get what I wanted done. The idea for Jashley's came from this experience.
